Background & Goals Considering all the challenges our Boards face, we are designing a new and comprehensive Board Development Program as part of a Network Board Development Initiative. We will expand on the working concept of corporate governance from one of stakeholder oversight to Board leadership for the most vital organization decisions. The program will provide practical steps that Board members and Partner Directors can take to make their collaborative leadership more efficient. Specifically, this program will be based on the following six pillars:
Those six pillars will be the basis for the upcoming and future AFS Governance Programs and are based on the book 'Boards That Lead'. This executive education program provides the latest thinking in governance and aims at building alignment and synergies around accomplishing organizational goals by working with the AFS leadership. 'Boards That Lead' reflects some of AFS best practices (and some of our not so good practices too), and they will be the basis for sharing and debating our current issues.
Audience This workshop is suitable for all AFS Board Member as well Partner Directors looking to improve governance in their respective organizations.
Benefits Current and aspiring board members will learn how to improve their leadership and decision-making effectiveness by examining the changing role of Boards. Chairs will receive new ideas on how to build boards that add (even) more value to the organization. Partner Directors will gain insights on how to partner with boards.
